Keeping your PC or Mac Up-to-Date

Despite the huge safety benefits, a lot of computer users don’t keep their computers up-to-date. But why do we (I’ll admit, sometimes I skip updates too!) fall into this trap?

I think it as similar to taking out the garbage. I know I should do it but sometimes I wait until it reminds me – via my nose. Having the same approach to updates can lead to even more unpleasant situations such as security vulnerabilities.

Updating Windows

Updating Windows is as easy as three clicks:

  1. Click on the Start Menu
  2. Click All Programs
  3. Click Windows Update

That’s it! Now you can relax while Windows takes care of the rest. You can also set Windows Update to run regular checks on your system, so you know that you’re being kept as up-to-date as possible.

Updating Macs

For Mac computers, it’s an easy two-step process:

  1. Click on the Apple logo (top left)
  2. Click Software Update

Done!

Now that this is out the way, it means you can concentrate on other important jobs, like taking out the garbage.
