Stop Using Internet Explorer (for now)

We love the internet, which is why we’re adamant that you should be safe when you surf. That’s why I’m urging people viewing this page on Internet Explorer 7, 8 or 9 (which will probably be around 40% of you) to switch to a different browser right now.

And if you don’t want to take my word for it, listen to what the Germany government has to say:

“The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has [discovered a] critical vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer .. versions 7 or 8 under the operating system Microsoft Windows XP, as well as in versions 8 and 9 use on Microsoft Windows 7.”

“The BSI recommends all users of Internet Explorer to use as long as an alternative browser for Internet use, until the manufacturer has released a security update is available.”

The current security issue with Internet Explorer means that anyone with a fully up-to-date system running IE can catch the virus simply by visiting a malicious web site. Ouch.

What’s worse is that the computer code criminals need to do this is already widely available on the internet, so there should be a huge number of infected websites popping up around the web as you’re reading this.

Below are links to some other popular browsers:

Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

Safari: http://www.apple.com/safari/

And of course, always make sure your antivirus software is up-to-date.
